The main purpose of this work is to propose a new configuration for the
Brazilian territory, providing a relevant dimension to analyze Brazilian social
inequalities. The central hypothesis is that the social structure, which consists of a
combination between labor market position (occupational class) and per capita income
level (social stratum) of Brazilian families, is able to identify social patterns which play an
import role in analyzing the huge inequalities of living condition in Brazil.
