Abstract

This report outlines a method for estimating household income in rural areas of Mozambique using a proxy approach. It is based on collaborative work between Michigan State University and USAID-funded NGOs, and is meant for use by them in their areas of operation. The development of such a methodology prompts two important questions. First, why focus on household income? Second, why use a proxy approach?
