Abstract
This report presents results from a detailed exploration of household food consumption
behavior in a rural area of northern Mozambique. Smallholder households were studied in Montepuez
District in Cabo Delgado and in Monapo and Meconta Districts of Nampula. These areas are
typical of the interior of northern Mozambique, where maize- and manioc-based cropping systems
predominate and where cotton and cashew are often grown.
