Difference Analysis on the Sustainable Development of Eco-city - A Case of 14 Cities in Gansu Province, China

Taking 14 cities of Gansu Province as examples, this paper adopts the Principal Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis methods based on the theory of sustainable development and ecological city. A total of 36 index factors of the sustainable development of eco-city are selected. Through establishing the evaluation index system of sustainable eco-city, the sustainable development level of eco-cities in Gansu Province is analyzed. Research result is as follows: (1) according to the Principal Component Analysis, there are significant regional differences among the sustainable development of eco-city in Gansu Province; and its influencing factors can be summarized as comprehensive economic development factor, industrial development factor, land-use factor, environmental quality factor, population factor and infrastructure factor, with the accumulated contribution rate of 92.808%; (2) according to the Q-type Cluster Analysis, the 14 sustainable eco-cities in Gansu Province can be divided into developed area, more developed area, less developed area and backward area. Countermeasures are put forward in order to provide theoretical basis for the constriction of sustainable eco-city.
