Abstract

The Second Food Security Measurement and Research Conference (23-24, 1999) was co-sponsored by the U. S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service and Economic Research Service and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' National Center for Health Satistics. The conference was the second in a series and was attended by researchers from government, academia, and the private sector. The conference was part of an ongoing program of Federal food security research, the goal of which has been to establish a stable measurement strategy to assess annual the food security status of the U. S. population. This report is volume 11 of a two-volume set and contains a set of research papers that conference participants prepared to provide further detail on the content and findings of some research presented at the conference. The companion publication, Second Food Security Measurement and Research Conference Volume 1: Proceedings (February 2001, Stock # ERS-FANRR-11-1) contains abbreviated proceedings of all presentations and remarks by discussants at all sessions from the conference.
