Abstract

Excerpts from the report: The Southwest Ohio River Basin includes all or portions of 20 counties in Southwest Ohio. The study area is 4,249,600 acres and about 120 miles long and 70 miles wide. It includes the Great Miami River, Little Miami River, and the Wabash River portion in Ohio. Also included are Mill Creek, White Oak Creek, and direct drainage to the Ohio River between White Oak Creek and the Great Miami River. The hydrologic study area includes all or parts of twenty counties in Ohio. They are Auglaize, Brown, Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clermont, Clinton, Darke, Greene, Hamilton, Hardin, Highland, Logan, Madison, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Shelby, and Warren Counties. The purpose of the Southwest Ohio River Basin Study is to provide a comprehensive analysis of problems and needs and to formulate alternatives for facilitating the coordinated and orderly conservation, development, utilization and management of the water and related land resources. The study was prepared by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
