Abstract

Structure design is a central issue of every organization and a great challenge for contemporary managers. Organizational culture, as a system of values, beliefs and norms of behavior, represents an important determinant of organizational structure, and thus organizational performance. Culture affects the way of organization, the relationships, the degree of formalization, standardization and centralization in the organization. In this paper, first of all characteristics and typology of organizational culture are presented. Then, Mintzberg`s typology of organizational model are stated. Special attention in this paper is paid to impact of organizational culture on a choice of organizational structure model. By analyzing the research done in this work, we can conclude that different types of organizational cultures imply different models of organizational structure. In contemporary conditions, to develop a culture that encourages learning, community, teamwork, good human relations, open communications and acceptance of changes.
