Abstract

The paper deals with the issues of the analysis of the actual state in decision support systems in the companies in the Slovak Republic with the aim to suggest recommendations in this field. The object of our concern was mainly in the following fields: sources of requisite information in decision making and their forms, methods of obtaining information, and utilization of particular types of information systems in support of decision systems. Managers get mass of data which should make the decision making process easier, however they are frequently encumbered by a number of unusable data of poor quality. They would appreciate different type and form of the supplied data. The result of the research also referred to insufficiently and inconveniently projected information systems (not only computer information systems), as well as the question of company know-how loss. It was revealed that the information potential of subordinates is used insufficiently. In spite of the existence of the abundant number of methods for the support of decision making processes, the use of them was insufficient.
