Abstract

The comparison of physical indicators showed an important position of the Slovak and Czech Republics, Hungary and Poland in wheat production, as compared to chosen EU countries, namely Germany and Austria. Although the Slovak Republic achieved higher wheat yield per hectare only in comparison with Poland, compared to Germany and Austria it was just 0.53 and 0.80 point lower, respectively. Sale profit is limited by wheat prices fixed by producers and hectare yield. In the area of wheat growing Slovakia also keeps behind in selected variable costs of seeds, fertilizers and chemical protective agents. As to producer's wheat prices, further development is supposed to be positive for Slovak farmers after the accession of Slovakia to the EU
