Abstract

This paper presents the assessment of scale efficiency of a panel of 29 dairy farms representing all growing regions and different farm size groups in Slovakia. A nonparametric approach based on the mathematical programming known as Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was used. The results of analysis indicate that there is a very low correlation between growing region or farm size on one hand and technical efficiency and scale efficiency on the other one. The analysis was performed over the years 1994-1997.
