Abstract

The aim of this work was to verify a hypothesis of common trends in the nutrition policy of European countries. The analysis includes 21 countries of West and East Europe within the period of 1975-1995. Common trends in the population nutrition were verified by beta-convergence coefficients estimated by regression analysis. The analyses have confirmed the hypothesis of an existence of convergence toward similar nutrition in European countries. These tendencies were more intensive in the first part of the analysed period (1975-1985) than in the second one (1985-1995). This is due to the fact that latter also included a period of the transformation process of economies of Central and Eastern Europe.
