Abstract

Today's school participates in the process of globalization, which resulted in, among other things, uniformity of styles, life migration, the need for intercultural dialogue. The school is now a social mini structure, in which the integration of representatives of different cultures takes place. Building the “me – foreigner” relationship at the level of education in relation to the child, allows to suppose that the knowledge devoid of stereotypes, an attitude of tolerance towards “ the foreigner” will become the ground of a well functioning society that understands cultural diversity as a natural social phenomenon. The school, therefore, is responsible for developing educational strategies that will allow for the adoption of multiculturalism and making the conditions for intercultural learning. This is possible with shaping a specific school culture understood as a process which creates the system of values, expectations, language codes and customs typical of a school. School culture in cultural diversity of its subjects has a chance for a special kind of creation, as a result of the inclusion in the system of its functioning and internal regulation the elements of foreign cultures. They enrich the school with a new symbolism, ritualism and build the identity of its subjects, their cultural competence, which in result creates a new quality, style and patterns of work.
