Abstract

Land is a scarce factor of production. monitoring programs of mechanisms for redistributing property land rights provide strategic information to improve competitiveness and sustainability of territories. They are particularly useful in regions with severe land ownership fragmentation, and institutional fragmentation too, under the multiple land management instruments formulated. This paper seeks to outline a rural land market diagnosis in Galicia as a tool to promote institutional coordination and generate useful territorial information in the processes of land reorganization. The result is a three-component scheme (institutional, technical and technological) that would integrate the databases of different land management institutions, get geostatistical indicators of rural land market operation (such as transfer rate of rustic areas by trade and lease) and integrate them in a GIS web platform for territorial visualization.
