In spite of the fact that research on peanut began 75 years ago and positive results were obtained, peanut cultivation in Suriname is still in its primitive form, which essentially means that a wide gulf exists between scientists/administrators and farmers. This gap needs be bridged by reorienting strategies and their effective implementation to equip the farmers with latest technology and resources in order to generate farmers interest in peanut cultivation.
