Abstract

The aim of the paper was to present investment outlays of food industry in Poland between 2007 and 2014. The causes and results of the investments, the impact of the global crisis and economic slowdown in Poland and other factors on the investment activity of food industry were examined. For this purpose the data of CSO, Eurostat and literature were used. While working on the article the authoress used following methods: literature study and comparative analysis. Research shows that in the analyzed period the investment outlays of food industry showed a variable tendency – between 2008 and 2009 strongly decreased, and between 2010 and 2014 increased. The investment structure was dominated by machinery and equipment. The initial reduction of investments was the result of the global economic crisis. Later, growing export of food products and domestic demand, as well as processes aimed at further modernization of food industry and improvement of its competitiveness became important. This contributed to the success of Polish food industry in the EU. The proof of this is the 6th position of Poland among food producers in the European Union, as well as the results of this industry between 2007 and 2014, eg. an increase of volume and value of sold production, the growth of labor productivity, the growth of technical devices improvement, an increase of export value.
