Abstract

Three types of corn silage were elaborated with fresh forage corn, dehydrated and dehydrated with urea. Three BBN lambs with permanent fistula at the rumen were used to determine the in situ dry matter digestibility with Dacron cloth bags methods. Each bag with 15 g of different types of corn silage were introduced in the rumen at 3, 6, 9, 12, 24 and 48 hours. The samples were analyzed to obtain the concentration of crude protein, acid detergent fiber, neutral detergent fiber and percentage of digestibility. The results showed that the highest percentage of digestibility and crude protein was obtained in the corn silage of dehydrated com with urea. Comparing the different types of corn silage, degradation took place within 92 hours in com silage of dehydrated corn with urea versus 103 and 110 hours for the fresh and dehydrated corn without urea, respectively. We concluded that the digestibility of the dry matter is associated to the nutritional quality of the forage.
