Abstract
The aim of this study was to present economic aspects of pro-ecological investments in agribusiness
companies and their reference to the idea of sustainable development of rural areas. Sustainable development
should guarantee access to natural resources for all inhabitants of a given community, yet it should not pose
a threat to ecosystems and social-economic systems. In order to ensure this, it is necessary to implement a
number of investments aimed at the environmental protection. This applies both to local authorities, particular
households, farms and business people. Considering the concept of sustainable development on the level of
an agribusiness company should primarily mean the protection of the atmosphere, lithosphere as well as
efficient waste management. The research showed that economic aspects of pro-ecological investments in
agribusiness companies play a key role in their implementation and the formation of sustainable development
in rural areas. The pro-ecological investments contribute to the suppression of the progressing environment
degradation and actions recognized as environmentally harmful.
