Abstract
In the paper the structure and dynamics of changes in education of residents in rural areas and in
cities were compared. Based on a survey, the influence of a place of residence and level of education on the
scope of use of information technologies was analyzed. For the analysis, the chi-squared statistic was used.
Education of rural population has no effect on the equipment of households with computers and Internet
access, however, it is a significantly differentiating factor in terms of digital literacy
