Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to determine the level of financial knowledge among owners of small
agricultural holdings as participants in the financial system. The objective of the paper was realized using
primary sources (a questionnaire designed to conduct a direct interview with farmers, 300 respondents) and
secondary sources. Three domains were evaluated, which make up the overall level of financial knowledge:
basic financial knowledge, financial behaviours, attitudes and preferences. The study shows that in the case
nearly 30% of the interviewed farmers the level of financial knowledge was high, in 35% intermediate, and
in 40% low. In the group of farmers, an area that requires urgent, educational action is module on basic
financial knowledge.
