Abstract
The main objective of this mini symposium is to present the results and ongoing work of a cross-country
study of the impact of climate/weather shocks on household welfare and the potential value/role of social
protection and climate-smart agriculture as a means to insure households under increasing climate shocks.
This work is being carried out by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in
conjunction with the Centre of Economic and International Studies at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
