Abstract
The article aims to present the size and pace of development of organic production and organic food
market in the world. The biggest areas of agricultural land cultivated with the use of organic methods are in
Australia, Europe and South America while the biggest organic food market is in the rich countries of North
America and Western Europe, and Japan and is constantly developing. It creates opportunities for development
of agricultural production with the use of organic methods. Organic food production is developing in both
highly developed and developing countries, which see that this kind of production gives chances for export
and utilisation of labour force surplus, increase in income and development of poor farms.
