Abstract

The socio-economic reforms implemented since 1989 have highlighted the economic, social and civilizational weakness of rural areas. The presence of economically weak areas translates into differences in intraregional what is contrary to the principle of consistency. In response to these challenges was the introduction of a new instrument of local development of Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI). ITI are the result of selection by the EU “ top-down“ approach to local development. As the research conducted in the area of Wałbrzych Agglomaration, ITI may be an instrument that can support the development of rural areas. The positive effect of the introduction of the ITI, may be greater integration of comminities and joint investment policy. Such action may limit the costs of the communities and contribute to the optimization of the investment policy.
