We conduct consumer surveys with two different information treatments. We utilize a dichotomous-choice contingent valuation methodology to estimate willingness to pay for this product and analyze factors that affect consumer choice. The results suggest that the average respondent is willing to purchase second-generation bioethanol with a 4% discount compared to conventional fuel. Some demographic variables and driving behavior are found to have significant effects on consumer willingness to pay. The effect of information regarding the second-generation, nature-inspired lignocellulose process is found to be insignificant. 000170203 546__ $$aEnglish 000170203 650__ $$aConsumer/Household Economics 000170203 650__ $$aDemand and Price Analysis 000170203 650__ $$aResource/Energy Economics and Policy 000170203 6531_ $$aConsumer Preferences 000170203 6531_ $$aSecond-generation Bioethanol 000170203 6531_ $$aContingent Valuation 000170203 700__ $$aLi, Tongzhe 000170203 700__ $$aMcCluskey, Jill J. 000170203 773__ $$d2014 000170203 8564_ $$972b42252-5cc4-4197-a43e-0e7d4adedcce$$s407038$$uhttps://ageconsearch.umn.edu/record/170203/files/NIF_AAEA_2014.pdf 000170203 887__ $$ahttp://purl.umn.edu/170203 000170203 909CO $$ooai:ageconsearch.umn.edu:170203$$pGLOBAL_SET 000170203 912__ $$nSubmitted by Tongzhe Li (tongzhe.li@wsu.edu) on 2014-05-28T04:04:23Z No. of bitstreams: 1 NIF_AAEA_2014.pdf: 407038 bytes, checksum: f03a99d3d0f829a78a2bdbd731efd727 (MD5) 000170203 912__ $$nMade available in DSpace on 2014-05-28T04:04:23Z (GMT).
