Results are based on bi-weekly retail price data collected from ten markets in Mbeere and Meru south districts. The error correction model extended by the incorporation of asymmetric adjustment terms was used to study asymmetry in price transmission between the markets. Cointegration technique was used to determine the existence of a long-run price relationship between the maize and beans markets. The findings indicate that the markets are integrated. Retail price transmission process between the markets is asymmetric. The observed prices adjust more rapidly to increases in prices than to decreases. The speed of price response between market pairs was higher for markets that are far apart. 000161448 546__ $$aEnglish 000161448 650__ $$aFood Consumption/Nutrition/Food Safety 000161448 650__ $$aFood Security and Poverty 000161448 6531_ $$aAsymmetric adjustments 000161448 6531_ $$aspatial food price transmission 000161448 6531_ $$aerror correction models 000161448 700__ $$aNgare, Lucy W 000161448 700__ $$aWambugu, Stephen K 000161448 700__ $$aNzuma, Jonathan M. 000161448 700__ $$aShisanya, Chris 000161448 773__ $$d2013 000161448 8564_ $$9c0e6ed13-dfa5-4720-aaae-fdce90ba4030$$s412332$$uhttps://ageconsearch.umn.edu/record/161448/files/Asymmetric%20price%20transmission.pdf 000161448 887__ $$ahttp://purl.umn.edu/161448 000161448 909CO $$ooai:ageconsearch.umn.edu:161448$$pGLOBAL_SET 000161448 912__ $$nSubmitted by Kirsten Pagel (pagel076@umn.edu) on 2013-12-12T18:24:19Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Asymmetric price transmission.pdf: 412332 bytes, checksum: de0bb35e645965c2ed0a32323b756431 (MD5) 000161448 912__ $$nMade available in DSpace on 2013-12-12T18:24:19Z (GMT).
