Abstract

This research work was designed to analyze the socio economic framework backyard economy and its contribution to sustainable local development in Nicaragua. We used data analysis instrument enclosures with Malmquist Indices applied to the backyard economy to measure impact of local sustainable development. Additionally, we used the database INIDE organizing data honeycombs for periods 2001 and 2005. In measuring the results achieved to the socioeconomic impact of the activities of the courtyard was showing positive economic contribution to the development of sustainable local court, in terms of technology, contribution to the environment and economic capacity of families. This activity is taken up mostly by women, and helps to strengthen food security and household nutrition. We identified the courtyard economy model contributes to the environment, and complements the family income, and the law of food security and sovereignty contributes to improve diet and family health. It was determined as a boost the economy patio role of women in the home, the low cost of inputs, and family labor.
