Abstract

This paper develops and applies an export-side international trade model to analyze economic gains resulting from trade liberalization in the world wheat market. Major policy variables in the analysis include the removal of producer and consumer subsidy equivalents in industrialized countries. Estimated gains are substantial for all exporting countries ranging from $5.32 million for Argentina to $4.24 billion for the United States.
