O artigo analisa as transformações que atingem o meio rural gaúcho nos cinco primeiros anos do século XXI, demonstrando o impacto da desagrarização e da pluriatividade a partir das informações fornecidas pela Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílio. Com base nos dados disponíveis é destacada a queda na capacidade da agricultura em ocupar a força de trabalho residente nos estabelecimentos familiares.---------------------------------This paper examines the transformations that took place in the rural areas of Rio Grande do Sul state on the five first years of the 21st century, demonstrating the impact of desagrarization and pluriativity processes. This conclusion is supported from the point of view of the information supplied by Research National for of Households. One even notes a significant reduction in the number of purely farm households in the rural areas.
