| Authors: | Fournier, S. Chabrol, D. de Bon, H. Meyer, Anne |
| Keywords: | Resources shallot Mali |
| Issue Date: | 2010-10-27 |
| Abstract: | This communication aims at the analysis of the construction process of territorial resources which allowed the local system of production / processing of shallot to remain on the Dogon plateau. Complex resources, putting in relation specific know-how and local organizational and institutional devices carried the development of this production and conferred it a certain specificity, recognized by the consumers. It was so able to resist to the new competitions, national, then international.
The interest and feasibility of the recording of this product as Geographical Indication is questioned nowadays. If this project can allow opening new markets, fighting against phenomena of usurpation and strengthening local organizations, it is raising the issue of the existence of a local organizational and institutional device susceptible to guarantee the appropriation and the collective management of the new resources built by the IG. |
