Abstract: Food safety and security may be improved by using technological innovation. However, hostile consumer reaction to scientific solutions is commonly accompanied. The case analysis of food and environmentally borne Fusarium mycotoxins and illnesses is examined to clarify a situation where the biotechnological tools could be utilized. Fusarium species cause serious economic hardships. The greatest concern is in diseases like Fusarium head blight (FHB) associated with deadly mycotoxins, as well as opportunistic species such as Fusarium solani can directly infect humans, causing serious illness. An evaluation of the risk analysis framework critiques and makes suggested solutions in order to effectively manage the use of biotechnology in sensitive situations, as in the case of Fusarium.
