Abstract: This paper summarizes the general condition of the North Dakota economy and the outlook for the next few years, addressing recent and projected changes in employment, personal income, and population. Forces affecting the growth and decline of various economic sectors are discussed, and specific examples of new or expanding firms in various economic sectors are presented. Differences in economic performance among regions of the state and between urban and rural areas are examined, and major factors affecting the state's economy over the next two to five years are explored.
