Abstract

The reforms in the services sector have seen tremendous growth in the sector’s contribution of GDP across all economies around the world. In Uganda, the share of services to total GDP is more than half in nominal terms. In this regard, with deeper regional integration among East African Community (EAC) partner states in both goods and services, it is important for Uganda to identify and expand the services sector in which it has a competitive advantage within the region. Thus, this paper tries to establish the country’s competitive services sector by critically analysing the Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) based on key quality indicators and factor cost at secondary and university levels.
