Abstract: This paper is concerned with the evolution of the agricultural system and its consequences for the international research. In particular, the gradual liberalization of international markets, the changing in consumer’s preferences in western countries, the increasing in concentration in food distribution and industry, and the economic and demographic problems of developing countries are affecting the demand and supply of agricultural and food products. Consequently, also the agricultural research has to follow or, even better, to anticipate the changings in order to answer to the different and new demand of technology and information.
