| Title: | Development of High Fructose Syrup in the US and its Implications for Australia |
| Authors: | Niall, D. Jane Smith, Rhonda L. |
| Issue Date: | 1983-04 |
| Abstract: | Sugar is an important agricultural export for Australia, hence developments affecting the world market are of concern. Alternative sweeteners, in particular High Fructose Syrups, are making inroads into the United States sugar market, one of the traditional destinations for Australia sugar exports. With sugar currently in oversupply on the world market Australia is affected by this development both through erosion of her markets and through lower prices. In this paper the development of the High Fructose industry in the United States and the implications for Australia are considered. |
